The Adonis dates back to the 1880s. This aperitif is easy to make, generally delicious and it’s low in alcohol, so you can have a few without missing dinner. The equal parts of sherry and vermouth make for a nutty and bittersweet base that’s packed with flavor and a great introduction to these fortified wines.
1.5 oz dry oloroso sherry
1.5 oz sweet vermouth
2 dashes orange bitters
Stir ingredients with ice in a mixing glass, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange peel.
