Tequila Cocktails for National Tequila Day

Hardly a week goes by these days without the opportunity to observe a food- or drink-related holiday. We’re content to skip nearly all of them, but July 24th–better known as National Tequila Day–is one that we’re happy to support. So are brands and venues, if our flooded inbox is any indication. So below, we’ve rounded up a handful of our favorite cocktail recipes in honor of National Tequila Day. Celebrate accordingly.

Indian Summer tequila cocktail

2 oz Tequila Don Julio Blanco
1 oz fresh lime juice
1 oz simple syrup
1.5 tsp curry powder
2 sprigs cilantro
Chipotle powder
Sea salt

Muddle cilantro sprigs in a cocktail shaker. Add tequila, curry powder and fresh lime juice into the shaker with ice. Shake well, then strain over fresh ice into a rocks glass rimmed with a 1:1 chipotle powder-sea salt blend.

2 oz Cazadores Tequila Blanco
.75 oz fresh lime juice
.5 oz St. Germain Elderflower
.5 OZ pineapple juice
.5 oz spicy agave
2 dashes Peychaud’s Bitters

Pour all ingredients (minus bitters) into a mixing glass. Add large cold ice, shake vigorously and strain into a Collins glass. Top with Peychaud’s Bitters and garnish with an orange Flower.


matcha margarita

1.5 oz Avión Silver Tequila
.5 oz Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur
.5 oz Agave Syrup
3 cucumber slices
2 jalapeño slices
2 mint leaves
.25 tsp matcha powder

Muddle cucumber, jalapeño and mint in a mixing glass. Add remaining ingredients and ice, then shake vigorously until cold. Strain into an ice-filled rocks glass, and garnish with a cucumber wheel and mint sprig.
