Ron Zacapa 23 has long been one of our favorite rums. This rich, luxurious spirit is aged for 23 years at high altitudes in Guatamala, and the result is one of the most popular and sippable rums on the market. And while we usually drink this one neat or in an old fashioned, we’ve recently begun experimenting with Zacapa 23 in a variety of cocktails. The flavorful rum stands up well when paired with citrus and other mixers. We try not to overdo it, though, as we like this rum to be the star of the show.
In the below cocktail, we’re pairing Ron Zacapa with a small measure of Myers Dark Rum, plus lemon juice, demerara syrup and bitters. It’s an easy-drinking cocktail that highlights the rum, and it should be an easy sell for anejo daiquiri fans.
