Breeder’s Cup

The Breeder’s Cup cocktail comes from Matthew Biancaniello at the Plan Check Kitchen & Bar in Los Angeles. It begins with a simple vodka-lime-agave base, but from there, things get more interesting. A barspoon of beet horseradish lends some spice and color, while cucumber cools things down. And a pinch of smoked salt on top, and you’ve got a uniquely-flavored, well-balanced cocktail on your hands.

  1. Muddle everything except vodka and salt.
  2. Add vodka and ice, then shake well.
  3. Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice
  4. Add a pinch of salt on top and serve
