Farm to Glass: Seasonal Cocktails

Perhaps the biggest contributor in reviving craft cocktails – aside from personal interest and talent – has been the utilization of fresh ingredients in drinks. Just as quality dishes benefit from fresh produce and herbs, so too can drinks. And as the weather turns cooler, we often look to fall favorites like apples and rhubarb to add seasonal flavors to our cocktails.

In this latest video from friend of the program, industry expert Charlotte Voisey explores the bounty at Ferry Plaza Farmers Market in San Francisco, where she finds fresh and flavorful ingredients like red bell peppers, cilantro, rosemary and rhubarb.

Armed with these ingredients, a stocked bar and a juicer, Voisey uses some natural pairings to create flavorful drinks. For instance, she brightens up vodka with autumnal favorites like rhubarb simple syrup, apples and rosemary, and her riff on the margarita includes cilantro and red bell pepper for a vibrant and earthy tequila cocktail.

    I shop at Ferry Plaza all the time. Wish I’d seen Charlotte there ha! Definitely some fine looking drinks!
