The US Postal Service is looking to alcohol as the answer to its financial troubles, and it could be worth upwards of $50 million per year to an agency that lost $16 billion last year. “There’s a lot of money to be made in beer, wine and spirits,” says Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe. “We’d like to be in that business.” Mailing alcohol through the USPS is currently restricted by law, but the proposed plan will allow for the delivery of beer, wine and spirits in specially-made boxes for one flat rate. Friday’s Fined for Cheap Liquor

In case you needed a reason to start drinking elsewhere, the operator of a chain of TGI Friday’s restaurants in New Jersey was fined for a most heinous case of bait and switch. He was found to be substituting cheap booze in the place of top shelf liquor. Briad Group has been ordered to pay a $500,000 fine after the investigation, cleverly dubbed Operation Swill, found them to be at fault.
