Dallas to Host Craft Cocktails Texas

Texas cocktail fans, take note. Craft Cocktails Texas is coming to Dallas June 14th – 17th to showcase and celebrate the growing movement of craft cocktails, artisan spirits and classic techniques being employed at bars and restaurants throughout the state. And Cocktail Enthusiast is giving away a pair of tickets to the Main Street Gardens Festival and USBG Competition on June 16th!

To enter for a chance to win, simply email us with your name and contact info. Winners will be chosen at random. The deadline to enter is Friday, June 8th at 11:59 PM Central Time.

Craft Cocktails Texas will feature a variety of educational seminars, spirited tastings, happy hours and competitions, as professionals and enthusiasts alike explore Texas’ drinks scene. Though based in Dallas, which — in cocktail terms — has gone from wasteland to quite respectable in a scant few years, Craft Cocktails Texas is expected to draw participants and attendees from throughout the country. That includes international spirits brands and industry veterans like Adam Seger, Jason Kosmas and absinthe guru John Troia.

Events will range from a boozy kick-off party and well-stocked tasting rooms to Saturday’s Main Street Gardens Festival, which includes food, drinks, a pop-up bar and live music leading up to a USBG cocktail competition.

Craft Cocktails Texas is in its infancy — this being its inaugural year. And it’s the state’s second cocktail festival — the San Antonio Cocktail Conference took place in January 2012. Tales of the Cocktail and the Manhattan Cocktail Classic are the heavy hitters in this space. And cocktail hotspots like San Francisco and Portland have their own cocktail weeks, deservedly so. Even Arizona has a cocktail week, held this past February. So let’s hope Craft Cocktails Texas is a boon to the state’s ever-improving cocktail scene, and something that grows in years to come.

“But even Arizona beat Texas to the punch, with Arizona Cocktail Week held this past February” Really? A tad bit insulting for Arizona and all the AZ bartenders trying to change the drinking culture here that you hold us in such high regard. Thx Mr Gray!

Ross – no offense intended. I simply mean that Texas is a massive market, so it’s surprising this didn’t happen earlier. I’m just using AZ as an example of a smaller market hosting a cocktail week.
