A Trio of Halloween Cocktails

Halloween is here, and it’s another occasion to drink some appropriately-themed cocktails. Sure you could go with a candy corn infusion, or make an eyeball from a cocktail onion. If that’s your thing, go for it. But below, we’ve got a few Halloween-inspired cocktails that are tested, approved and quite good.

First up: a tequila cocktail featuring the just-launched Espolon Anejo. .

Awake the Dead

2 oz Espolòn Añejo Tequila
.25 oz coffee-demerara syrup*
3 dashes cherry bitters

In an old-fashioned glass, add the bitters, coffee demerara syrup (*equal parts coffee and demerara sugar) and Espolòn Añejo. Add a large ice cube and stir until cold and properly diluted. Garnish with an orange peel and brandied cherry.

blood orange cocktail

Blood Orange

1 oz Nolet’s Silver Dry Gin
.75 oz blood orange juice
.75 oz lemon juice
.5 oz Aperol
.5 oz rose wine

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Shake and strain into an ice-filled rocks glass. Garnish with a thick twist of blood orange peel.

Monsters Among Us

1 oz Ketel One Vodka
.5 oz Cognac
1 oz ruby red grapefruit juice
.5 oz simple syrup
.25 oz egg white(s)
3 dashes aromatic bitters

Combine first five ingredients in a mixing glass. Shake vigorously with ice and double-strain into a partially sugar-rimmed coupe glass. Squeeze the oils from a grapefruit peel across the surface of the drink and discard the peel. Top with three dashes of bitters.
